Literature Text

Location: Central City.
Time: 12:00 p.m.
My name is Barry Allen and I am The Fastest Man Alive.
The Rogues of Central City had done their usual shtick of robbing banks and the like.
I rounded them up and took them to CCPD per usual.
But I couldn't shake the feeling that something more was going on.
There were reports of a man in yellow suit with red lightning attacking places like Mercury Labs, Project Cadmus, etc.
Eobard Thawne aka Reverse-Flash.
The man who killed my mother.
I try to avoid bringing too much emotion into cases when I investigate as either Barry or Flash, but I don't think anyone would fault me for being upset at this.
I stopped at S.T.A.R. Labs to check in with my pals.
"Barry, I've been trying to track Thawne, but homie's using some hardcore tech. You said he was fast, but this is insane, bro." Cisco said.
"Try thermal imaging and vibrational frequencies from his lightning." Caitlin said.
"Keep an eye on all tech suppliers, guys. Thawne's got a plan. He always has plans to torment me somehow." I said.
"Focus on getting faster, Barry. That's all you need to worry about." Dr. Wells said.
"Dude, there's a freak electrical storm in Gotham. Better get going." Cisco said as I took off.
When I arrived in Gotham, I suddenly felt sick. I saw flashes of a giant biomechanical creature in a silver suit with white lightning, Grodd, Jay Garrick's helmet, the Speed-Formula, a desolate Earth, a giant tornado, Caitlyn as Killer Frost, and Cisco with powers.
I slowly got up and heard Caitlyn over my radio.
"Barry, are you okay?! Your biometrics just spiked! Your BP is insanely high!" She said worriedly.
"I'm okay. Just....Just has a bad reaction to some food earlier." I lied.
"Cut down on the Big Belly Burger." Cisco joked with a tinge of concern.
"Yeah. I don't see any electrical storm, guys. Is our gear malfunctioning?" I asked.
"Not possible. I designed it myself. I'm telling you, it's there." Cisco replied.
I saw flashes of lightning near Wayne Tower. Guess I owe Cisco an apology.
I ran towards it and readied myself for a fight.
I saw Bart trying to use his speed to contain a weird rupture with Speed-Force lightning coming out. It hit me and burned my arm.
My lightning turned blue and out of control when it hit me.
I felt immensely powerful and confident.
"Bart! I got this." I said as I circled the rupture and drew the energy towards myself.
Siphoning off the energy towards myself was risky, but I had to contain this before anyone got hurt.
I saw Bart and Gotham become blurry as I drew more energy.
I assume the rupture closed or something. I saw.......nothing.
Lots of nothing.
Then I woke up in my house with Wally, Bart, and Jay surrounding me.
"Kid.........we need to talk." Jay said grimly.
"What happened, Jay?" I asked.
"You entered a part of the Speed-Force through a rupture and absorbed too much energy. Lucky it didn't kill ya. It really SHOULD have. You saved Gotham, though, along with the entire Eastern seaboard. Well, you and Bart." Jay said.
"Max Mercury said that the Speed-Force has been weird lately. Not pointing fingers here." Wally said as he glared at Bart.
"Dude, shut up." Bart said.
"Zip it! Both of you! We gotta figure out how these ruptures tie into Thawne and this altered timeline Bart made. Barry, rest up. You gotta recover." Jay said.
I wasn't in a position to argue.
"Be safe, guys." I said.
I'll alternate between exploring the timeline changes with others and the main story. I need a way to make these better.
